EWOB x The Nine: Intergenerational Exchange

We cordially invite members of EWOB and The Nine to an in-depth debate during a special workshop organized around intergenerational thought patterns.

Together with young women and men, we will explore the future of gender equality, leadership, and diversity in the boardroom.

In an ideal scenario, we will actively diversify current boardrooms not just by bringing in more women, but also by integrating younger generations today, making decision-making future-proof, and moving away from a past-based approach.

Almost all of us are mothers, and when asked "Why did you join EWoB?", there is always one consistent answer: "Because I want to create an easier career path for my children." Today, you have the chance to actively contribute to this and reach your goal… Bring your daughter and/or son to an interactive-workshop.

Take part, make the first step, and get the ball rolling. Share your own experiences with your children or other young adults, speak openly about how you turned your losses into wins, listen to them—both their ignorance and their knowledge—and understand their needs.

This is your first step in making their path to the top smoother and less bumpy. Activate their awareness, take the first steps with them toward top positions, and guide them around potential pitfalls.

Become not only a mother but also an active sponsor of the next generation of women and men, accelerating the process of diversification in the boardroom—not only in gender (by increasing the number of allies) but also in age (embracing their knowledge and recklessness).

Why This Workshop?

In this workshop, we aim not only to examine what is currently happening regarding gender equality in the boardroom but also to help shape future boards by testing our ideas against the reality of our children. We will listen to see if the younger generation is aware of our struggles for gender equality and how they view the current situation and developments:

  • Knowledge about career paths to the boardroom: What do young people know about the path to a board position? Do they see us as mentors? Are they familiar with concepts like "sponsorship"? Do they already guide each other in their careers and offer support to reach these top positions?
  • Promotion of gender equality: Is gender difference within younger generations still a theme? How do young people experience the impact of current gender equality policies? What do they think about mandatory quotas on boards, and how do they view progress (or lack thereof) in practice?
  • Is gender equality a discussable topic for young people? Is gender equality an obvious topic of conversation for young people? If so, how does this differ between young women and men? What are the taboos or concerns young people have about this subject?
  • Future generation of leaders: How do young people see their future as leaders in a world that is increasingly focused on diversity? What are their expectations for an ideal workplace where equality is central?
  • What is important for today's youth? How do young women and men view their future? What do they strive for: image, salary, self-development, or impact on society? How do women’s goals in this regard compare to those of men?

Condition for Participation:

Yes, exceptionally there is a condition … Each member is to bring one or more young adults (can be children) so that we can explore intergenerationally how we can transform leadership up to the boardrooms.

This debate will help us form a clearer picture of what is going on with the younger generation, it will bring us closer together, and hopefully show us the way how we can take collective steps toward a truly inclusive future for leadership roles.
