Dodging the 10 Traps of Power with Margrethe Vestager and Annelies Verlinden
27/05/2025 - From 19h30 to 21h30 - Public
When you gain a position of power, it means entering a minefield. Power will change you, from becoming less approachable or liked, all the way to becoming a proper criminal. At the same time, it changes the way people treat you. For some you become an idol, for others a threat. In an attempt to empower women to stay sane in politics and dodge the 10 evident traps of power, Katrien Van den broeck interviewed female leaders all over Europe to discover their hacks, share ways to prevent the traps and save yourself if you fall into one of them.
Whether you are already in a leadership position, a public figure, a politician, or simply politically interested or a feminist, this evening is for you.
Katrien Van den broeck will take us through the 10 Traps of Power with compelling examples and anecdotes from her career in politics.
We will also hear from former EU Commission Executive Vice-President Margrethe Vestager and current Belgian Minister of Justice Annelies Verlinden on how power has shaped them, the specific challenges for women and what golden recipes they have to offer the audience.
They say a man who has been warned is worth two men. We say: women who have been warned, get organised!
Organised in collaboration with The Alliance Of Her, Europe’s leading platform for women to lead and succeed in politics. Follow them on Instagram!
