Join us for an insightful and impactful evening as we bring together experts and activists in the field of women's health. This event will delve into the often-overlooked areas of women's well-being, offering a deep dive into endometriosis, menopause, and cardiovascular health.
This event seeks to challenge the medical community’s neglect of women’s health and bring to light the pressing issues that too often remain in the shadows. Together, we’ll engage in thought-provoking discussions, aimed at empowering women and advocating for better care and understanding across the globe.
The evening will feature:
- Ellen Andries (Filmmaker and Patient): MyEndo – The Story
Ellen will share the story behind her documentary MyEndo, which aims to raise awareness about endometriosis, a painful and often misunderstood condition. Ellen’s personal journey led her to create this film to ensure others don’t face the same struggles, including infertility and misdiagnosis. Through her film, she sheds light on the challenges of living with this disease, emphasizing the urgent need for better healthcare and research.
- Dr. Eveline Markowicz (Gynaecologist): Menopause – Unnecessary Suffering
Dr. Markowicz will discuss menopause, an often-dismissed phase of women’s lives that many experience in silence. Why does menopause still carry stigma, and how can we address the unnecessary suffering many women face during this time? Dr. Markowicz will explore these questions and offer insights into how the medical community can better support women during menopause.
- Dr. Bharati Shivalkar (Cardiologist): The Forgotten Heart – From the Womb to the Tomb
Dr. Shivalkar will focus on women's cardiovascular health, a topic largely overlooked. With a special focus on how women throughout their life course, from adolescence to menopause, experience unique risks and challenges with heart health, Dr. Shivalkar will explore the importance of creating awareness and research to address women's specific needs allowing for tailored approaches to bridge the presently existing gender gap in cardiovascular care.
