Understanding Workplace Trauma Workshop

28/04/2025 - From 19h30 to 21h30 - Members Only
Registration mandatory

For many people their workplace is not a safe place. Perhaps it never has been.

Workplace Trauma, also known as Career Trauma or Workplace PTSD (increasingly referred to as PTSI, with the "I" standing for Injury) is more common than you think. It’s not just a result of catastrophic events such as natural disasters, industrial accidents, or violence.

It can also stem from everyday behaviours that have been normalised in our organisations, which create toxic work environments. If you have ever faced an overwhelming workplace experience or experiences that have impacted your physical and emotional health and confidence, this workshop is for you.

You will:
• Get a better understanding of what trauma is, the types of traumas commonly found in the workplace and how they can impact your physical and emotional wellbeing.

• Learn some basic neuroscience: freeze, fight, flight, feign, and fawn responses and identify how our nervous system responds to situations where we feel threatened to better understand our instinctive responses.

• Psychosocial safety: Identify situations and behaviours that can cause trauma in the workplace (psychosocial hazards).

• Learn some practical self-care strategies and tips to deal with challenging workplace situations If you want to thrive, not just survive at work - please join us.

Note: owing to the sensitive nature of this topic, places will be limited to allow for more personal discussion when Chatham House Rules will apply.

That is, what is said in the room, stays in the room.
